Bob Ellis is one of the world's best course builders and was handed the honour of being in charge of preparations for the Games two years earlier, which he admits caused some problems in itself.
'I was on a shortlist of four people in line to do it, along with an Italian, a Brazilian and a German,' he said while he was in Guernsey during the weekend for the inaugural Odey Wealth Grand Prix Horse Show.
'There were a lot of people supporting me to do it and it was brilliant to be given the role, although that was in 2010 and realistically, I think you probably need four years to get it perfectly right for an Olympics.
