THERE may not have been a golden finish to the NatWest Island Games for Guernsey's swimmers, but three more island records on the last night of the programme tell their own story.

The Sarnians have excelled in the magnificent new outdoor pool at the National Sports Centre this week and the fact that their medal count has fallen is mainly down to the talent of the opposition in Bermuda, particularly those mighty Fraser brothers from the Cayman Islands.

It would have taken something extra special to beat those two and splitting them was a major feat in itself, but that is just what Miles Munro did yesterday in the 50m free.

The 17-year-old's potential has long been known, but to see him join in the fight for medals with these two Olympians this week has been enthralling
