GLENN ETHERINGTON might have raised a wry smile.

Certainly his 50sec. split - some consider it fractionally faster - was arguably the run of the day for the Channel Islands Club as they finished joint second overall in match four of the British League in Bedford.

Etherington was somewhat surprisingly omitted from Guernsey's 4x400 relay squad that was pushed into fourth place in Bermuda where the baton was dropped on the final changeover.

But CIAC colleague Tom Druce was mightily impressed by Etherington's run in the closing 4x400 relay in the last Division Four match of the season.

'It was nice to win the relay and I was really pleased for Glenn who ran a storming home straight to set me up for the win,' said his colleague.
