AFTER creating an event that has successfully reached its 10th year, Susie Farnon believes that local dressage is increasing in quality year on year.

Over the course of the weekend, more than 120 riders from Guernsey and Jersey competed in the Forest Farm Dressage, which is held on Farnon's private property, one of two events she organises each year, with local riders also able to compete in seven BSJA dressage events.

She admits that the numbers are a far cry from the inaugural event in 2003 that saw 120 entries across the various classes, as opposed to 300 over the three days this year.

'What we try to do is provide a dressage show that is comparable with those in the UK, on the best facilities possible,' she explained.

'I want others to get the enjoyment out of their sport that I have got and there are a number of younger riders involved in the sport now.'
