Lack of grip costs Priaulx places at Nurburgring

DESPITE a great start that saw him move up 10 places by the end of lap one, Andy Priaulx had to settle for 16th place in the latest round of the DTM at the Nurburgring.

THE rain forecast for the Nurburgring could not have arrived at a worse time, as the heavens opened just as the DTM race started.

There were winners and losers in the ensuing lottery, as all the cars started on dry weather tyres.

Unfortunately, despite a great start that saw him move up 10 places by the end of lap one, Andy Priaulx was one of the losers and could only finish 16th in his Crowne Plaza Hotels BMW M3 DTM.

It was a very disappointed BMW Team RMG driver after the race.

'I made a good start, had a good first lap and was up to 12th by the end of it,' said Priaulx, who had qualified 22nd.

'Then I just went backwards on the wet tyre. I had no grip at all for the whole race. It was disappointing, but there is nothing else to say.'
