TONY VANCE admits that the young guard coming through the Guernsey FC ranks make him excited for the future of the Green Lions in their Ryman League adventure.

Five teenagers – Tom de la Mare, Paris Pereira, Tom Martin and Kyle Smith, as well as the UK-based James Hamon – all featured during last night’s excellent 2-1 victory at Corinthian Casuals in their 100th game.

‘They all showed that they can perform at this level and proved that we have plenty of squad depth, which is a brilliant thing to see,’ he said.

‘Del [de la Mare] proved that he can come into our midfield and do an excellent job, while Paris also ran their back-line excellently, which was exactly what I wanted of him by picking him in a game that I thought would suit him.

‘And James is growing in confidence each game, to go with the ability everybody knows he has, while Tom and Kyle both got minutes off the bench, which is great for them too.’
