Guernsey FC face toughest test yet

GUERNSEY FC face their biggest league test yet today – trying to stop the early runaway train that is Crawley Down Gatwick.

Four teams have already tried, but failed, to take anything from the ‘Anvils’ in Ryman Division One South so far and the most recent, Eastbourne Town, were thumped 6-1 in midweek.

It means that Crawley Down Gatwick are the only side with four wins from four in the early table and the Green Lions have the tough task of trying to stop them.

Having won both of their away games so far, though, manager Tony Vance is relishing the challenge at the Haven Sportsfield this afternoon.

‘Of course, we go into this game as underdogs, but that will happen more often now because of the position we have worked our way into,’ he said.

‘I don’t know much about Crawley Down and haven’t seen them play, but judging by the league table and the money they have reportedly spent, it will be incredibly tough for us.'

Today’s game kicks off at 1pm, with live updates on our Twitter feed @GsyPressSport.
