THEIR unbeaten run on the road has continued and Guernsey FC will now look to get off the mark at Footes Lane in the Ryman League Division One South this afternoon.

Despite going in as underdogs for the match at early pacesetters Crawley Down Gatwick on Saturday, the Green Lions produced a superb display to secure a 1-1 draw having led through Dom Heaume's early goal.

That took GFC's tally to seven points from three away games and five in total, putting them in a 13th place in the early table, despite having scored just four goals so far.

'It was an excellent performance and in the first half we absolutely dominated and were in total control, playing some excellent football,' said GFC manager Tony Vance afterwards.

'Against a very good semi-professional team, we proved we can compete well at this level and, with players still to come back as well, we are looking good at the moment.'

The result means that Crawley Down Gatwick are still top of the league, but only on goal difference from Hastings United, while GFC are three points away from the top-five play-off spots.

Next up are Redhill this afternoon, another newly-promoted club who are battling away in 16th, having lost 2-1 at home against Leatherhead at the weekend.

Today's match with Redhill kicks off at 1pm, with live updates on our Twitter feed @GsyPressSport.
