Bradford back but Saints crash

THEY were far from their best, but Bels proved that they will once again be the team to beat as they began their Priaulx Cup defence in decent fashion at Blanche Pierre Lane on Friday night.

THEY were far from their best, but Bels proved that they will once again be the team to beat as they began their Priaulx Cup defence in decent fashion at Blanche Pierre Lane on Friday night.

Although their star-studded attack squandered numerous chances, the four they did take were more than enough, as St Martin’s will be rueing the key chances they missed themselves when the game was in the balance.

The season was only 4min. old when the star man of the last two campaigns, Craig Young, slid home from Luke Winch’s pull-back to break the deadlock for the visitors.

It was far from Young’s finest night, although he still ended up with a brace and, in all honesty, there weren’t too many brilliant individual displays in an error-strewn encounter, where possession regularly went astray.
