JUST to be in the FA Cup is one thing. But Guernsey FC's fans must have thought they were dreaming 10 minutes into their debut in the world's most famous cup competition.Going where no local side has gone before, the Green Lions made the Ryman South League leaders Crawley Down Gatwick look anything but, as a two-goal early blitz put them in control.

Matt Loaring's memorable individual goal and Marc McGrath's close-range effort both came with less than 8min. on the clock and they would lay the platform for without question the finest all-round performance in GFC's history.

To a man, and without exception, they were magnificent from back to front on a day when the Channel Islands added their own line to the memories of the historic old cup.

In reality, it could and should have been more than the final two-goal margin – certainly chances squandered before half-time support that theory – and the hosts were restricted in chances to the sole penalty they did convert before the break.
