LUKE LE TISSIER has vowed to do everything he can to win a place on the plane to Malaysia and the next World League tournament early in 2014.

The younger son of former Muratti star Carl is the babe of the 13-man squad the Guernsey selectors have named for this weekend's Marlborough Trophy inter-insular clash against Jersey.

The 17-year-old spin bowler has impressed in recent weeks and after another five-wicket haul for Miton Optimal at the weekend, as well as some excellent batting displays, he has made it into Nic Pothas' squad.

KGV is the venue as Guernsey look to win back the trophy they lost a year ago and although Le Tissier waits to see whether he is played as another spinning option along with Max Ellis and Jeremy Frith, he is a happy young man.

'I didn't honestly think I would make it into the squad, but have worked really hard and am delighted that I have been called up,' he said.
