ROB WEST and Jo Dyer were crowned singles champions at the Guernsey Closed Championships at the weekend.

West, who lost out in a thrilling men's singles final to Patrick Ogier a year ago, made no mistake on this occasion against Nico Robinson, winning 6-2, 6-2 in relative comfort.

On the other court at the same time, Dyer was successfully retaining her women's singles title and getting her name on the trophy for the second time, after her maiden win in 2012.

She came up against Chantelle Frith in the final match of a round-robin tournament between the two unbeaten players and, although Dyer won 6-2, 6-3, it was not as one-sided as the scoreline perhaps suggests.

In the doubles competitions, brothers Nico and Pieter Robinson combined to win the men's title before Nico joined forces with his mother Jo to win the mixed. The women's doubles was won by Frith and Carly Tucknott.
