GUERNSEY'S two off-island cyclists may both need to find new teams in 2014.

Tobyn Horton and James McLaughlin race for Team UK Youth and Saur Sojasun respectively, but both teams look set to fold.

McLaughlin's French-based team have already confirmed they will be folding and the powerful Team UK Youth may soon be following suit.

Ranked by the UCI as the second-best British team after Sky, they are funded by former Formula One world champion Nigel Mansell, whose son Greg is in the team.

However, he is withdrawing his funding at the end of this season and, unless a new sponsor is found, they will fold.

Team UK Youth won the 2013 Tour Series in style, winning nine of 12 races in the prestigious event across the UK.

Mansell snr announced in a statement some of the reasons for withdrawing the sponsorship.

'Team UK Youth was formed four years ago and over this period the team has gone from strength to strength, culminating in this season as the top UK team and Tour Series champions,' he said.

'The Mansell family have been proud to solely sponsor the team over the past four years in the aim to obtain full sponsorship for the 2014 season. Unfortunately, this has been found to be impossible in the present financial climate.'
