IT WAS a weekend to remember for Andy Priaulx in Australia.

He and teammate Mattias Ekstrom finished a very respectable 10th in the prestigious Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in their Xbox One Racing team's Holden Commodore VF after the triple world champion had led the 161-lap race, which lasted for over six hours, for a time.

'I am very happy. I think that was where we expected to be,' Priaulx said.

'It was a solid job and we were able to run with the top guys.

'We had to pit near the end for fuel and tyres, but anyway this is a tough race and to be there at the finish is what we certainly wanted to achieve.'

The Guernsey driver took particular satisfaction from his stint at the head of the race.

'I have had a fantastic experience here at Mount Panorama and leading the race was a very special experience for me.

'I had a smile on my face and I can now say I have led Bathurst.

'To be leading such an iconic race, on one of the best tracks in the world, while competing against these guys who race in the V8 Supercars week in week out was unbelievable.'
