GUERNSEY FC will take on one of their toughest tests yet this season today without half-a-dozen key players who are unable to travel to the UK.

Manager Tony Vance takes his Green Lions to Faversham Town, who, despite sitting 10th in the table, have lost just once at home and were last season's beaten play-off finalists.

It would be a tough enough examination anyway, with high-flying Hastings United and Peacehaven & Telscombe both already coming unstuck there, but it has been made harder with the absentees.

Centre-back pair Sam Cochrane and Tom Strawbridge remain sidelined with groin injuries, while Matt Loaring's troublesome calf has ruled him out.

Dom Heaume, Tom de la Mare and Dave Rihoy are also unavailable, but Vance is not unduly worried.

'It is a shame we have players of that calibre out, especially with losing the attacking threat of both Matt and Dave, but I can't complain with some of the players who are back in,' he said.

'When you are able to welcome back Marc McGrath and Alex Le Prevost to your squad, as well as a fully-fit Nigel Hutton, you know you have good options.

'Our squad has always been full of players who are versatile and can fulfil a number of different roles, which means that whichever players start, we will have a strong XI.'
