DAVE RIHOY has been charged to fill Ross Allen's boots tonight for what Tony Vance says is the biggest game of Guernsey FC's season.

The Green Lions host title favourites Hastings United and with the exception of the holidaying Allen, it is an unchanged squad to the one who drew with Peacehaven & Telscombe 2-2.

GFC manager Vance admits that others will have to step up in the absence of his top scorer, but he is more focused on ensuring his side gets back to their free-flowing best.

'I came out with some comments regarding Ross and the team relying on him in recent weeks, which I think were fair,' he said.

'But Ross has also gone into an individual mode at times in those games, back to what he was doing in his Rangers days, when it was him or nobody.

'That is not a criticism of Ross at all, but every one of our players has to help us get back to the 11-man football we can play, but haven't been lately.

'What is pleasing is that while we haven't played well, we have still got a couple of points because of our mental strength and people mustn't forget that all teams have slumps in a long season.'

Should GFC win, they will climb back into the play-off zone in fifth spot, above Worthing, while Hastings are in a fierce four-way battle for top spot with Walton Casuals, Leatherhead and Peacehaven.

Tonight's match kicks off at 7.45pm, with live updates on our Twitter feed @GsyPressSport.
