THE first and, as yet, only Jersey side to tackle the challenge of playing in the Guernsey FA Cup deservedly progressed into the last eight as toothless Sylvans passed up on home advantage on a tight St Peter’s pitch far removed from Rozel’s wide expanses of Le Couvent.

On this showing Sylvans might still be playing now without managing to beat Jonny Le Blancq in the Rozel goal, which coach Shaun Staples freely admitted afterwards.

‘We haven’t tested their keeper in the whole game and they deserved it more than we did.

‘We had no craft and were badly missing “Prev” [Matt Le Prevost] running from the middle of the park.’
