MARTYN DESPERQUES struck a rapid century on his way to three vital frames that prevented La Villette Hotel Gremlins slipping to a second consecutive defeat in the Image Group Premier Division.

A brilliant 116 clearance will go down as one of the quickest ever made locally, and featured some extraordinary potting to keep the break going.

Desperques' third ton of the season came at a time when La Villette were level with Ex-Service Hot Butts at the halfway stage after Glenn Le Prevost and Adrian Holley had exchanged 2-1 wins.

The Hot Butts led 2-0 following Clayton Le Noury's impressive opener and Holley's first against Darren Hughes, but Le Prevost's 42 sealed a three-frame run for the defending champions.

Not to be outdone, Holley made a 43 in his decider to square the match, only for Desperques to blaze La Villette ahead once more.

Scott Bradford got closer in the second frame, but he was on the receiving end again when Desperques posted a 56 clearance to make it 6-4 to La Villette.
