A REMARKABLE second-half comeback saw LMS2 record their first win of the season yesterday in a late-night Legis Division One thriller at Beau Sejour.

After a tight opening quarter, the two sides were separated by just three points with Cross The Finish Line holding the slight advantage, before they turned on the style in the second quarter.

As the half was coming into its final three minutes, XTFL hit a real purple patch led by Max Hamon who landed a couple of big three-pointers in an 11-point individual scoring spree while Jim Rowe also ended the half already on double figures as the team in red led 39-23.

However, within the first seven minutes of the third quarter, LMS2 wiped out that deficit and even edged ahead 44-43, largely thanks to an inspired Ryan Kampmann well backed up by Luke Sheehan and Neil Davey.

By the end of the quarter, XTFL had recovered sufficiently to take a one-point lead into the final stanza, but Sam Norris then found his range while Pete Beausire continued to chip in consistently on his way to a game-high 23 points as LMS2 forged ahead once more.

Going into the final minute they had a four-point advantage, which Rowe halved to set up a tense finale, but as the clock ran down, Paul Van Beek’s long-range attempt at a winning three-pointer hit the rim and bounced out, much to LMS2’s relief.
