TONY VANCE has called for his Guernsey players to 'roll their sleeves up and be brave' to exit a slump that lurched from one nightmare to another on Saturday.

The Green Lions were hammered 6-2 at Horsham in the Ryman South, their latest bad result in an awful run of form which has seen just seven points secured in the last eight games.

Dave Rihoy and Jamie Dodd's goals, as well as a decent first-half showing, were the highlights for GFC, but Billy Dunn's hat-trick helped them succumb to defeat.

Jamie Cade, Tony Nwachukwu and Akwasi Fobi-Edusei grabbed the others for the hosts, whose success means GFC have now dropped to seventh in the table, below Faversham Town and in-form Folkestone Invicta.

GFC manager Vance admitted it was another tough afternoon for his side, who will need to bounce back when they host Herne Bay on Saturday, one of three games in a week over Christmas.

'For the first 30 minutes or so, we were really solid and played some good football, but after that, it was an indifferent afternoon to say the least,' he said.
