Guernsey FC 2, Walton Casuals 1

Published

Matt Loaring marked his 100th game with a late winner as Guernsey FC grabbed a crucial home Ryman South victory over their play-off rivals.

The Green Lions trailed Walton Casuals 1-0 at half-time through Liam Collins' penalty, but were thankful to their goalkeeper Kieran Sanderson, who made a string of fine saves to keep GFC at bay.

But after a dodgy start to the second half, GFC responded well and were level when substitute Marc McGrath slid home the rebound after Allen's initial shot had been saved.

And it was left to Loaring to have the final say on a wonderful game of football when he rounded off a brilliant GFC team move with 88 minutes gone to grab a win for GFC that takes them above their opponents on goal difference, with a game in hand as well and puts GFC in a great position to cement a top-five spot.
