Bizarre injury to keep Cochrane out for weeks

SAM COCHRANE has backed his Guernsey FC team-mates to keep alive their Ryman South promotion push in his absence, which could yet be a lengthy one.

The Green Lions captain damaged his ankle ligaments in Saturday's win over Eastbourne Town and the prognosis is that he will likely be out for between six and eight weeks.

If that proves to be the case, he would miss at least his side's next nine games and may only just return for the April run-in, when GFC will look to book a play-off spot.

The centre-back's bizarre injury, caused when celebrating his match-clinching goal in the 4-2 win, means that regular full-back Jacques Isabelle will play alongside Jamie Dodd in tomorrow's big game with Burgess Hill Town.
