Ashes star Taylor lends GCB a helping hand

THE official stats say there is no better batsman in world T20 women's cricket than new Sussex captain Sarah Taylor, who was at the ICG Centre yesterday, bat in hand, to launch the local game's new and exciting plans for the development of women's cricket.

Last month Taylor, 24, was at the non-striker's end with another half-century in the statistical bank as England captain Charlotte Edwards hit the boundary that clinched the 2014 Women's Ashes Series.

But having swapped the heat of Hobart in Tasmania for the miserable rains of the south of England, she flew into the island on the day the Guernsey Cricket Board announced the signing of a three- year deal with Romanillos & Cook as title sponsor to the GCB Women's Cricket Programme.

Taylor, who is here for three days in a coaching capacity, said she felt a sense of responsibility to develop girls and women's cricket, including Guernsey.
