Guernsey end on a high with play-off win

GUERNSEY beat the Cayman Islands by seven wickets today in the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division Five fifth/sixth play-off.

Lee Savident and captain Jamie Nussbaumer guided their side home at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, scoring 98 not out and 52 not out respectively in an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 113 after opener Lucas Barker had earlier scored 54.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, the Cayman Islands made 222 all out from their 50 overs with Omar Willis making 59 and there were three wickets apiece for Will Peatfield and Max Ellis.

Guernsey won with 13.5 overs to spare.

Meanwhile, Jersey were crowned WCL5 champions as they beat Malaysia by 71 runs in the final. The Caesareans won six matches out of six throughout the week.
