Priaulx relishing chance to tackle the 'Corkscrew'

THE 2014 motorsport season will have many firsts for Andy Priaulx and one he is particularly looking forward to is racing on the iconic Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca circuit in California.

He will get his chance this weekend when the Tudor United SportsCar Championship heads there for the fourth round of the season with him and his BMW Team RLL team-mate, Bill Auberlen, leading the driver championship.

The triple world champion has a steep learning curve with many of the 11 rounds of the series held on circuits that are new to him, but this only increases his desire to do well.

'I am viewing this as another amazing opportunity and a challenge that I shall relish,' said Priaulx before flying out to America.

'It can't get much better than driving a car as exciting as the BMW Z4 GTLM on one of the most famous circuits in the world. I can't wait to get on track for the first time on Saturday.

'However, I shall not let its history alter the way I approach the race. I shall get there in plenty of time to learn all I can about the special characteristics of the track, which include the famous Corkscrew, and also get used to the big time difference between my home in Guernsey and California.'
