Sharman announces his squad for Muratti Vase final

THERE are no great surprises in an ultra-attacking Guernsey squad named by Steve Sharman for this weekend's Insurance Corporation Muratti Vase final.

Craig Young is unsurprisingly the only player named who has not featured for Guernsey FC this season, although Luke Winch has made a late surge also to be named.

One of four men in the 18-man squad not to have played in a final against Jersey before, he is also one of a host of exciting attacking names included for the trip to Springfield.

Winch, Young, star man Ross Allen, Dave Rihoy, Marc McGrath, Dom Heaume and Matt Loaring are all included, with coach Sharman having no injury worries within the 18.

Injuries have put paid to Glyn Dyer and Angus Mackay's hopes of appearing, while a broken hand suffered by Tom Creed means that UK-based James Hamon gets the nod as back-up goalkeeper.

Tom de la Mare, Hamon, Winch and Nigel Hutton are the quartet potentially making their final debuts, although Hutton has been capped against Alderney.

'I have named a squad who I believe if they apply themselves correctly, will be able to win the Muratti again, but we will have to perform to our optimum levels on the day,' said coach Sharman.
