Red-and-blacks win the Guernsey FA Cup

RANGERS lifted their first silverware since 2010 last night as they beat Bels 3-1 in the Guernsey FA Cup final.

In a dramatic match at Blanche Pierre Lane, the red-and-blacks were 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Jamie Le Cheminant and Dale Garland, but were also down to 10 men after captain Dave Parrott was sent off for two bookable offences.

However, goalkeeper Jakub Machlowski played superbly to keep Bels at bay, including saving an Ant Austen penalty, until finally being beaten by a Simon Marley cracker with quarter-of-an-hour remaining.

Rangers were not to be denied, though, and sealed victory late on as Bels keeper Rhys Gower brought down Aaron Ockleford in the area, was sent off for the challenge, and Le Cheminant converted from the spot.

'It is a fantastic moment for all of the players and the club, so hopefully we can build on it now,' said Rangers coach Paul Ockleford.
