Merrien back on track as he prepares for Glasgow 2014

LEE MERRIEN will race for the first time on a Guernsey track in four years at this weekend's Intertrust Golden Series.

As part of a 'Powerplay' hour of athletics, it is also hoped that Footes Lane will see the quickest 100m race ever in Guernsey.

The GIAAC host their big event that will see five elite races held, which will include a number of visiting athletes from the UK.

Hopes are high within the club of the all-comers' record in that blue riband 100m falling, with the current mark held by Craig Pickering at 10.40sec.

Scott Bajere and Ramone Smith are the men expected to challenge that mark in a race in which every runner will be looking to dip under the 11sec. barrier.
