Mike Wilesmith, the local marathon runner, may yet switch attentions from the South of England Championships to run locally, and if he does there may yet be a ding-dong battle at the head of what looks likely to be the biggest Father's Day 'half' entry for many years.

Organiser Paul Ingrouille said that there was so much interest in this year's race that they were setting up a late entry desk in the Fletcher Sports Town shop on Saturday afternoon between 1 and 3pm.

'We are already up to 300 and I think by the start we will be up to 350, which will be the biggest in a number of years.'

The race start from the shingle bank at L'Eree at 9.30am with the finish outside the Guernsey Information Centre.
