The eventual 62-8 scoreline on Saturday evening at Footes Lane in favour of the Greene King IPA Championship outfit emphasised the step up in class that the home side were up against, but the way in which they rose to the occasion bodes extremely well for their upcoming National Three London & South-East campaign.

Guernsey's captain, Blair Campbell, said: 'That is the benchmark for our season now. If we can play like that each week, we should be in contention for the title at the end of the season and that was without our full-strength side out there. We can look at that performance and think we can add to it, so it does bode well.'
