Tostevin denies new Vale coach with a late winner

SIMON TOSTEVIN snuffed out Andy Bougourd's dream of a winning start as Vale Rec first team coach with an 82nd-minute winner for North at the Track.

Tostevin's close range header from Sam Matthews' chip to the near post came as no surprise because the big man had threatened all evening, but it was tough, nevertheless, on Bougourd's men who were a match for their Grand Fort Road neighbours in every element, with the important exception of taking chances.

Vale Rec looked a well-balanced unit and broke at real pace and purpose, but they still badly lack a punisher like Tostevin.

North, who had gone ahead through youngster Harry Smith after just 12 minutes when Tostevin put the youngster in to score past Jody Bisson, can rightly argue that had they not missed a sitter or two on the half-hour mark, they would have been home and dry by half-time.
