The Sarnian quartet were magnificent as one by one they all cleared a testing 1.20m course, making it look far easier than it was, to claim both the inter-insular Settyres Trophy and the overall Ringer Memorial Trophy for their match with the visiting Jersey and England teams.

In the preceding junior team match, there had been some joy for the Jersey contingent as they registered victory over their hosts.

The evening before was arguably the highlight of the individual classes as Cowley on High Flyer VII and fellow Sarnian Jodie Travers on Pickwick De Frieres shared the honours in a brilliant senior puissance.

Both cleared a mammoth 1.70m in the fourth round to claim joint first out of 14 starters before the wall was taken up to 1.80m in the final round, which would have set a new CI record, but neither was able to go that high.
