The rest of the team is effectively the Guernsey under-19 side, and with the likes of Jemma Green and Amy Fallaize in their ranks, they will be a tough side to beat.

Blaze A begin their campaign this evening on Tuesday against Thunder B, another of the four Nerine sides in the top winter league.

'Last year we were trying to blend a team together with a lot of younger ones and obviously that took a more of time to all click together,' explained Copperwaite.

'But now we have the experience of playing together, and we also have some really talented players in there, some of whom have already played for Panthers' first team.

'So I expect us to be competitive in every game we play and yeah, I don't see any reason at all why we shouldn't be looking to challenge for the title.'
