Le Prevost breaks arm in defeat at Faversham Town

COLIN FALLAIZE saluted Guernsey FC's battling spirit despite a 3-0 defeat at Faversham Town last night.

Guernsey's assistant head-coach directed proceedings in the absence of Tony Vance for the Ryman Division One South encounter that saw the Green Lions keep their powerful opponents at bay for over an hour before two dead-ball strikes from Wayne Wilson and a stoppage-time scorcher from George Monger sealed their fate.

GFC were up against it with just one outfielder on the bench in Etienne Le Prevost, and Dominic Heaume was forced to play most of the game in the heart of the defence after Alex Le Prevost's broken arm left the Green Lions with Jamie Dodd as the only recognised centre-half.

But Fallaize was encouraged by Guernsey's gutsy display against the odds and said he had plenty of positives to report to Tony Vance.

'I'm not pleased with the result or some of the things we did football-wise, but I was pleased with the attitude,' he said. '3-0 was harsh based on the effort of the boys. That's the way football is – it's cruel sometimes but we are here to be tested and challenged and we got that on all fronts in this game.'
