NORTH laid down their biggest statement yet in this FNB Priaulx League season with an emphatic beating of the reigning champions Bels on a wet Friday night at Northfield.

Going into the game, North had been urged for a positive response after their abject showing a week earlier against Vale Rec and they provided exactly that, with a display full of hunger and positivity.

Led by the outstanding two-goal Matt Drillot at the heart of midfield, North inflicted the biggest league defeat on Glyn Smith's men in quite some time and backed up their status as title favourites.

Craig Mollet and Liam Mahon scored North's other goals, with Damien Le Tocq finding the net for Bels.

Both of Saturday's Priaulx League games – Sylvans v. Rovers and Vale Rec v. St Martin's – ended 1-1.
