Depleted GFC head to Tooting & Mitcham

AFTER searching desperately to name his Guernsey FC match-day squad, Tony Vance has bemoaned being 'amateurs in a professional world'.

The Green Lions head to Tooting & Mitcham United for tonight's Ryman South match with just 14 players named and, among them, four inexperienced youngsters.

Vance says it has been his toughest job yet to ready his side for their fourth midweek away match of the season and admits that inconsistency is to be expected.

'People are realising now just how tough it is to be playing our fourth midweek away game in just 11 weeks and that our players are amateurs in a professional world,' he said.

'The commitment continues to be fantastic but nobody can expect amateurs to play that much in such a short space of time and that is why I believe this is the most unique job in football.'

Still, Vance is hopeful of his side rising to the challenge against a Tooting side who are 16th in the league.

Possible GFC starting XI: Creed, Isabelle, Cochrane, Mackay, Dodd, K. Mahon, E. Le Prevost, Heaume, Young, Winch, McGrath. Subs: Pengelley, L. Mahon, Hale.
