Guernsey RFC 26, Bury St Edmunds 30

A LOSING bonus point was scant reward for Guernsey on a day when Jordan Reynolds insisted the better side lost.

It was a cracking encounter for the neutral at Footes Lane on Saturday, but there were hardly any in attendance and the manner in which Bury St Edmunds celebrated at the final whistle, which came when Guernsey were within five metres of their line, showed just how much the visitors had to work for this victory.

However, the Guernsey head coach made no effort to disguise the fact that he felt his side had been hard-done-by.

'Bury St Edmunds did not deserve to win that game, we did,' was Reynolds' immediate reaction afterwards, without having been asked a question.

'We got absolutely robbed today,' he added.

'We played fantastically well. Bury St Edmunds are a good side, there is no question about that, but our guys 100% deserved to win.'
