Jakub gets his chance for GFC

A LITTLE bit of Guernsey FC history will be made at Carshalton Athletic tonight.

Published

Jakub Machlowski will become the first non-Guernsey or British passport holder to turn out for the Green Lions after coach Tony Vance made a significant change to his leaky midweek line-up.

After two successive Tuesday night hammerings in which they conceded 14 goals in total, Vance has moved to block the defensive colander by calling up Rangers' Polish keeper.

Machlowski has impressed many judges over the past two winters and won a call-up for last season's Priaulx League representative side that lost to Jersey in the FA Inter-League Cup.

Machlowski gets his chance due to the unavailability of first-choice Chris Tardif and Vance having opted to rest Tom Creed, who has regularly filled in midweek.

Likely starting team: Machlowski, Cochrane (captain), Strawbridge, Dodd, J. Winch; de la Mare, Loaring, K. Mahon, Dyer; Young, Heaume. Subs: D. Hale, E. Le Prevost and Steel.
