The GRFC director of rugby Jordan Reynolds reported that his side had done enough to win the game over the 80 minutes, but 'fell asleep a couple of times' which presented opportunities to their hosts who took them with aplomb in a 26-22 success in the clash of the bottom two.

'It was a good performance by the guys, but good performances do not win you games in this league – we have to be a level above that,' he said.

'When we were winning games last year, we were playing excellent rugby and that is what you have to do. In lower leagues, good rugby will win you games, but we are not playing good enough to win games at this level.

'The enthusiasm is there – you cannot question the guys' commitment – but there is probably a little bit of confidence lacking and that's showing in our execution.'
