There is no need to panic insists GFC chairman

STEVE DEWSNIP remains adamant that Guernsey FC are capable of competing in the Ryman Premier in the future, despite their awful run of form.

In an exclusive interview, the Green Lions chairman has backed Tony Vance and his coaching team to turn things around, with no plans to change the club's policy of using home-grown players.

Last night, GFC's hopes of avoiding Ryman South relegation received a boost, as rivals Redhill lost 4-0 at Worthing, to keep GFC in 19th place.

GFC have a four-point cushion on the drop zone heading into Saturday's match at Whitstable Town and although promotion from this league seems a long way off currently, Dewsnip is relaxed.

'I remain convinced that when Tony has everybody available injury-free, we are more than capable of holding our own in at least the Ryman Premier, possibly higher,' he said.

'We have had a vision as a club since our formation and that vision remains exactly the same now as in 2011 and we will get back to winning games regularly again, I am confident of that.'

The other midweek Ryman South matches saw Merstham continue their stunning form with a 5-0 away thumping of Sittingbourne, to move top of the table on goals scored.

However, unbeaten Burgess Hill Town are still favourites, as their 2-1 win at Chipstead means they are level on points and with five games in hand.
