Attitude was the key to GRFC win

GUERNSEY coach Jordan Reynolds has called for his players to retain the desire they showed in Saturday's dramatic last-gasp victory at Hertford for the rest of the season.

His side moved off the bottom of National Three London & South-East with their 8-6 win on Saturday, which was earned by a performance the GRFC director of rugby said was poles apart from that which saw his side slip to a home defeat to Gravesend in their previous fixture.

'There was a totally different attitude this time – a lot more desperation in our game,' said Reynolds, whose side won by virtue of Glen Walters' successful penalty with the last kick of the game.

'It still took a good kick into the wind to scrape home, but it was great to see us fight right up to the end and at least give ourselves the opportunity to win it.

'We know we messed up against Gravesend, but we have made up for that now with this win.

'This is the start of where we need to be going, though, and if we do not back it up in the next game against Amersham, all that effort will have been pointless.'
