STEVE SHARMAN has backed his players to overcome any hurdles placed in their way in this summer's quest for Island Games gold across the water in Jersey.

Guernsey's men's and women's teams both learned the schedule and venue for their football campaigns in late-June, with the men beginning theirs on the opening Sunday against Ynys Mon.

That game kicks off at 5.30pm at St Peter, before clashes against Gotland and Gibraltar in the following days at St Brelade and Springfield respectively, both with lunchtime starts.

'The last four years has allowed us to build up plenty of depth, so that I almost have two teams within my squad that are good enough to go out there and challenge for gold,' he said.
