'I was delighted to be selected for the team,' said Simpson. 'Getting a senior England cap has been a goal of mine for a long time now, so putting the shirt on will be a very proud moment for me.'

England head to Herning for the championships which take place from 29 April to 2 May looking to complete a men's and women's double for a fifth consecutive time.

Joining Simpson in the men's team are Nick Matthew, Peter Barker, James Willstrop, Daryl Selby and Adrian Waller.

'Our priority for the event is to retain the titles, but we also want to ensure that we use it as a chance to give some of the younger players experience and integrate them into the England team,' said England performance director Tom Duggan.
