Racing back in the domestic series for the first time since 2002, the three-time world champion will be regarded as the man to beat by many.

While the 40-year-old Sarnian accepts that is the case, he predicts a wide open season in what he believes is the most competitive domestic championship in the world.

'There are 32 drivers on the grid and of those, I genuinely believe that there are 15 who are capable of winning races and 10 who are capable of winning the championship,' said Priaulx.

'It is the most competitive touring car championship at domestic level in the world at the moment and to win races you have to produce an ultra-high level of performance.'

There are 10 rounds in total across the 2015 season, with three scoring races at each venue, with the first three of those 30 being at Brands Hatch on Sunday.

This weekend's three races are all 24 laps and are scheduled to get under way at 11.47am, 2.17pm and 5.12pm respectively, all broadcast live on ITV4.
