Vance laments 'harsh' equaliser

A LATE equaliser prevented Guernsey FC from completing a perfect Easter weekend yesterday as they were held 2-2 by Ryman South strugglers Redhill.

The Green Lions - looking likely to finish in 10th place and out of the promotion reckoning - were outplayed early on and deservedly fell behind to Frankie Sawyer's super strike.

But they fought back into it and after Ross Allen had levelled from the penalty spot they seized the initiative and dominated.

Coming out after half-time the better team they took the lead through Marc McGrath midway through the half, on his 100th GFC appearance.

Just as it seemed as they would follow up their Saturday success over Sittingbourne with another win, though, Redhill grabbed a point when Sean Loft netted with a minute remaining.

It meant that while GFC manager Tony Vance was disappointed to be denied so late, he was pleased with his side's efforts.

'It was probably harsh on us because bar the first 30 minutes, where they had a real go at us, I thought we controlled the game,' he said.
