Island player Watson has begun the part-time role and the GCB's development officer Jason Shambrook is delighted to have her involved.

'One of our main aims at the moment is to increase the participation numbers in the women's and girls areas of cricket locally,' he said.

'Katie is well-known across a few sports and I am sure will do a fantastic job in helping us engage further in female cricket over the coming months.'

Meanwhile, a new domestic league season moves ever closer with the opening KRyS Global Evening League games scheduled for Monday week, 27 April, with Division Three sides Grant Thornton and Jazz Hats doing battle at the Memorial Field.

Two days before that, at the College Field, a GCB National XI will play Elizabeth College in a 50 overs per side game.
