Time to shut that trapdoor for good

IT'S crunch time for Jordan Reynolds' Guernsey side.

Published

Westcombe Park arrive at Footes Lane tomorrow for the club's 26th and final National Three game of a long, arduous and injury-cursed campaign and Guernsey need the minimum ONE point to avoid the relegation trapdoor.

Reynolds is intent on not settling for one point, though. The Australian coach is demanding four or five and giving the Garenne Stand faithful a top performance to end a season in which he insists, bar for an unfair number of injuries, would have seen them chasing hard for promotion.

'I think we'd have been top four for sure. We are stronger than last year when we finished fifth,' says the man who insists the word 'Siam' – now only a fortnight away – has barely been mentioned.

Westcombe will come fighting hard for a win, believes Reynolds. 'Knowing their coaching staff as I do, they will make sure they are raring to go.'

Guernsey go into the game with virtually a clear injury list.

Other than long-term absentee, Sam Whitehead, the only notable absences are full-back Matt Hema and loosehead prop Cameron Craine, who is away, and his place in the No. 1 shirt goes to Fijian Simi Sawene who had a 'fantastic game' as a replacement at Tonbridge last week.

Kick off 3pm.
