Tostevin in race against time to play in Upton

HIS participation in tomorrow's Upton still hangs in the balance, but whatever the outcome, Simon Tostevin is not planning on the clash with St Paul's being his swansong.

There has been speculation that this season could be the last for North's star striker, who has netted 17 times to spearhead his side to the Priaulx League title.

After picking up a knee injury in their recent defeat to Rangers, there were fears that it could be that for the career of the former Muratti striker, who is now 32.

Fortunately the injury was not as bad as first feared and he has returned to training this week in the build-up to the Springfield showdown to decide the Channel Island champions.

Tostevin now faces a battle to be fit to make the starting XI.

'To be honest, I don't know whether I will be fit yet or not but I am hopeful, which is more than I was when I initially did the injury against Rangers,' he said.
