Sylvans lift the Stranger Cup
DANNY WATTS was the Sylvans hero as his 73rd-minute strike won his side the Stranger Cup at the Corbet Field last night.

In a contest against hosts Vale Rec that was largely forgettable, it was a cracking 20-yard strike from Sylvans captain Watts that ultimately settled it.
True, it was a half-volley that probably should have not crept through Adam Dunn's defences on the line, but nobody could begrudge the Westerners this 1-0 win.
At the end of a breakthrough season that has seen them emerge as genuine contenders in every local first-team competition, they were much the better side on the night.
