Local pro show key to Watson contract

A PROFESSIONAL boxing show – headlined by Bradley Watson – coming to Guernsey this year is highly likely, says his new promoter Kellie Maloney.

Speaking after signing a five-fight contract with the unbeaten Guernsey pro, Maloney gave more information as to the possibility of one of Watson's upcoming fights being on home soil.

'One of the deals in the contract is that one of the fights will be in Guernsey, as long as we gain approval to do so from the British Boxing Board of Control,' she said.

'We are having further discussions and meetings about making it happen and if it does, it will definitely be by the end of the year, possibly in late-November or early-December. I like to put on shows and events that are a bit different.

'If it happens, then we would do it in conjunction with a local charity and, for the first time, it would likely be a dinner boxing show with three or four fights on it.

'This is the start of a journey with Brad and we want to take Guernsey along on that journey with him.'
